to urethrovasal reflux in a 12-year-old boy. Patient developed urethrovasal reflux (UVR) associated with severe urethral and
scrotal pain secondary to inflamed hydatid cysts and recurrent epididymitis. It required many admissions and interventions
over the past 2 years. Several antibiotic courses, antihistamines and analgesic anti-inflammatory medications did not help; in
fact worsened his symptoms. Diagnostic transurethral and intravesical instillation of iohexol produced therapeutic effects and
complete recovery. Adolescent idiopathic non-specific urethritis in association with bilateral UVR causing secondary
epididymitis is rare. We report the first such rare case presenting as recurrent acute scrotum and response we received to novel
treatment we used by default rather than design and postulate some of the mechanisms responsible for therapeutic effects.
<Email>ramnik@doctors.org.uk</Email><articletype>casereport</articletype><volume>5</volume><issue>3</issue><year>2015</year><keyword>Adolescent,Non-specific urethriti, Acute scrotum, Urethrovasal reflux,Recurrent epididymitis,Iohexol</keyword><AUTHORS>Patel Ramnik,Desai Divyesh,Undre Shabnam, Cherian Abraham</AUTHORS><afflication>Clinical Fellow, Paediatric Urology, UCLH and GOSH, UK, Specialist Paediatric Urology, UCLH and GOSH, UK, Consultant Paediatric Urology, UCLH and GOSH, UK., Consultant Paediatric Urology, UCLH and GOSH, UK.</afflication></Article></Articles>
