prevalent medical complaints in the world. Consequently, physicians and other practitioners need education to assist in
developing the skills needed to evaluate and manage patients with pain and inflammation. This review focused on describes
the pathophysiology of pain and the underlying mechanisms. Utilize the critical elements of the pain history, and evaluate
characteristics of pain and inflammation relevant to diagnosis and management. Recognize the distinction between acute and
persistent pain and inflammation. Describe tools used to assist in the assessment of pain and inflammation to guide
