by using Elevated plus Maze (EPM) and Light Dark Model (LDM) parameters. Materials and Methods: Aqueous and
ethanolic extract of leaves of Nyctanthes arbor-tristis (250mg/kg, 500mg/kg), diazepam 1mg/kg are administered orally to
randomly divided albino mice of either sex. 36 healthy albino mice of either sex were randomly divided into 6 groups of 6
each (n=6), weighing about 25-30 grams were selected for the study. Results: Anxiolytic activity is assessed by Elevated Plus
Maze (EPM) and Light Dark Model (LDM) for locomotor activity. In EPM, treatment with ethanolic and aqueous extracts
increased the time spent in open arm and total locomotion time. In light dark model treatment with these extracts showed
increase in time spent in light compartment. Leaf extract (LE) at doses 250mg/kg and 500mg/kg have shown significant
anxiolytic activity. Conclusion The plant Nyctanthes arbor tristis's anxiolytic activity against the EPM and LDM, the ethanolic
extract, the aqueous extract had fewer effects. While ethanol extract demonstrated some degree of anxiolytic efficacy, this may
have been caused by the active ingredients' insoluble nature in aqueous solutions
<Email>singhjs20@yahoo.com</Email><articletype>Research</articletype><volume>15</volume><issue>1</issue><year>2025</year><keyword> Nyctanthesarbor-tristis, Anxiolytic, corticosterone levels, LDM – Light Dark Model, EPM – elevated plus maze</keyword><AUTHORS>Jaspal Singh*, Ajeet Pal Singh,Amar Pal Singh</AUTHORS><afflication>Department of Pharmacology, St. Soldier Institute of Pharmacy, Lidhran Campus, Behind NIT (R.E.C.), Jalandhar – Amritsar by pass, NH-1, Jalandhar -144011, Punjab, India,Department of Pharmacology, St. Soldier Institute of Pharmacy, Lidhran Campus, Behind NIT (R.E.C.), Jalandhar – Amritsar by pass, NH-1, Jalandhar -144011, Punjab, India</afflication></Article></Articles>
