using Alloxan monohydrate(150mg/kg) as diabetogenic agents for pilot study (4 weeks)so as to assess their effect in mild
(plasma sugar more than 160mg/dl)diabetes mellitus. In the pilot study maximum reduction of 67.2% and 66.3 % glucose
levels was observed in animals receiving 200mg/kg and 400mg/kg per day of Hydro alcoholic extracts of (Ipomoea Pestigridis) after 4 weeks of treatment, respectively. The alteration in hepatic glycogen content and hepatic glucokinase,
hexokinase and glucose-6- phosphate levels in diabetic rats were partially restored by Hydro alcoholic extracts of (Ipomoea
Pes-tigridis).
<Email>annaarulmed@yahoo.co.in</Email><articletype>Research</articletype><volume>6</volume><issue>1</issue><year>2016</year><keyword>Hydro alcoholic extracts of Ipomoea pes-tigridis,Glycogen content,Glucokinase,Hexokinase,Glucose-6- phosphate,Diabetes mellitus</keyword><AUTHORS>Peter Thanislas,Ajithadas Aruna,Parameswari Rathnakumar</AUTHORS><afflication>Institute of Pharmacology, Madurai Medical College, Madurai-625020, Tamilnadu, India,Joint Directorate of Medical Education (Pharmacy), Kilpauk, Chennai-600 003, Tamilnadu, India,Institute of Pharmacology, Madurai Medical College, Madurai-625020, Tamilnadu, India</afflication></Article></Articles>
