In this paper
,we report a study based on anticancer properties of Carissa spinarum L. The aerial parts of plant material were collected,
shade dried and extracted with pet ether , chloroform, ethyl acetate, and ethanol using soxhlet extraction procedure. The study
was aimed to evaluation of the anticancer activity of the ethanolic fractions of Carissa spinarum L have been traditionally
used for many ailments including cancer. In the present study, anticancer activity of ethanolic fractions of Carissa spinarum L
was evaluated using different invitro methods. In vitro antitumor activity was evaluated by the MTT assay and SRB
method using Vero and HEP-2 cell lines. . In in vitro activity plant fractions exhibited significant cytotoxic activity against
both cells lines even at different concentrations. Oral administration of CSF at the dose of 250,500 and 1000 mg/kg, The
results showed the significant decrease of the viability of the cells in a concentration dependent manner.
<Email> kabhisumi@gmail.com</Email><articletype>Research</articletype><volume>6</volume><issue>2</issue><year>2016</year><keyword> Carissa spinarum L,Cytotoxicity Activity,MTT Assay,SRB Assay,Ehrlich Ascites Carcinoma,Daltons Lymphoma Asties,Hella cell line</keyword><AUTHORS>K.Sumathi,N.Senthil kumar</AUTHORS><afflication>Department of pharmaceutical chemistry, J.K.K.Munirajah Medical Research Foundation, College of pharmacy, Komarapalayam, Tamilnadu, India.,Department of pharmaceutical chemistry, J.K.K.Munirajah Medical Research Foundation, College of pharmacy, Komarapalayam, Tamilnadu, India.</afflication></Article></Articles>
